She has had the same home reader for over two weeks now and she’s bored of it! So we dropped into the library this week while her prescription was being filled, and she picked out some books for herself. So this afternoon we had a Mummy date booked. Readers on the trampoline at 4 o’clock sharp. She read me a children’s reader which is an adaption of a beautiful Rudyard Kipling story. It was lovely. Next we will read the original version and compare the two stories. Great extension activities.
The perfect six year old birthday gift. Perfect.
Reading to Mum.
Her school readers feature sentences like “here is a cat”. She was quite comfortable reading this whole page to me.
Fly & Mosquito proofing my hammock lends a lovely whimsical feel…
Here we are at the end of Term One. 25% through the school year, and the kids are just getting graded readers for the first time (the school didn’t have enough for all the Kindy students, so they had to wait an entire term). Public schooling wins again.
[re: Wires into the Motherboard] “Just like the veins going into our heart?… Except, no blood!” By-golly I think she’s got it!

Incidentally: Wild Days is a fabulous book, all Home Educators should read it.
